The Rowley Water Department is requesting a Voluntary Water Conservation. Due to recent high temperatures and lack of rain, water demand has increased dramatically. Should the water system experience a large main break or firefighting event there could be a dangerously low volume of water remaining in the town's water tank. The drawdown levels within the towns three groundwater wells has also become cause for concern. Water conservation efforts include reduced lawn sprinkling, "topping off" of swimming pools, less washing of vehicles, power washing of buildings and decks, refilling of industrial cooling towers and so on. The Water Department requests that these, and other optional water consuming actions be temporarily suspended during this current high water demand period so that our groundwater sources and water tank volume stays sufficient.
