Rowley Book Club to meet Thursday, February 7, 6:30 pm

Join the Rowley Library Book Club on Thursday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. for a discussion of Bound for Canaan: The Epic Story of the Underground Railroad by Fergus Bordewich, a story of the divisive politics of the era, combined with thrilling personal narratives of the real people who risked everything to take part. The Underground Railroad was the first racially integrated, religiously inspired movement for social change. Pick up a book at the Rowley Library or order your own copy here, then join us for a discussion on Thursday, January 3 at 6:30 p.m.  For more information on our book club and a list of future titles, click here.  The Rowley Library is located at 141 Main St., Rowley, and is completely accessible.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Rowley Library.

Help us with the Bruins PJ Drive
STARTS SATURDAY FEBRUARY 2!

The Rowley Public Library has again teamed up with the Boston Bruins to participate in their annual pajama drive to benefit DCF Kids and Cradles to Crayons. The PJ Drive’s goal is to collect 15,000 pairs of new pajamas for children and teens in need. It’s hard to imagine that so many kids and teens don’t know the comforting feeling of putting on PJs before settling down to sleep, but you can be part of an effort to change that! Please drop off your donation of NEW PJs, size infant through teen, at the Rowley Public Library at 141 Main Street.

Genealogy club meets 2nd Monday each month, 6-8 PM

Interested in researching your family history? Start with yourself! Feel free to join us from 6-8 PM on the 2nd Monday every month in the Local History Room for meetings of the Genealogy Club, where like-minded researchers can make use of the Library’s resources, share ideas, and make progress on family stories. No experience necessary. No expert on hand, but those who have been working on this for a while will help you get started.

The Library now has subscriptions to genealogy research sites Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest.
